Twenty years ago was the best days of my life! We were young, able and willing! Glueck ab!

You fall at 18-20 feet/second with a T-10D chute, the WW2 classic chute. Which is plenty fast. Yes, your chute opens as soon as you exit, hence: 'hook up'. The static line rips open your chute and pulls it out, deploying it from its folded-up posture inside the pack.

do they have snipers in the airborne?
IIAIRBORNEII89 (January 4, 2009 at 7:48 pm)
why would they have snipers in the airborne?
effort321 (January 4, 2009 at 7:58 pm)
drop snipers in behind lines for faster advancement idk

but airborne are usually dropped during combat, on the back lines so it would be hard for them to fire.

Went through Benning back in the 60's...don't look like it has changed much. Night Jumps are the best.
