Dan2hamilton,
Have you taken the A.S.V.A.B yet? There is your first step. Next talk to a local recruiter. Some cases you can do boot camp in between your Jr. and Sr. year in high school. Good thing to remember is that recruiters have a quota. They make a lot of promises! Get everything in writing. Read your contracts carefully. Don't let the haters distract you from what you want to achieve. Believe me there will be at least one. Good luck man.

k thank you for all the information it will come in handy after this school year!

A.S.V.A.B Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. You HAVE to take this test before even being considered by any branch of the military. This helps determine which Rate or MOS you would be best at. As far as I know all high schools are required to give this test to all Juniors. I could be wrong. You can take sample tests at any recruiting station and a recuiter can schedule an actual test at M.E.P.S (Military Entrance and Processing Station)

My grandfather was in the 82nd airborne division - 501st infantry division, sniper-he was in the plane ready to jump to invade Cuba in the Bay of Pigs Invasion when President Kennedy called off the invasion.
